Craft

Craft has undergone a renaissance in recent years. As the Crafts Council argues, craft now stands for aesthetically exciting and skilfully executed objects that are every bit as desirable – and collectable – as contemporary painting and sculpture. Craft undoubtedly plays a dynamic and vigorous role in the UK’s social, economic and cultural life. We believe that refugee communities have a great deal to offer in terms of bringing traditional skills from different parts of the world, influencing contemporary techniques, ideas and materials, and making some extraordinary new work.
