This project is a practical visual arts project using knitting skills to celebrate the lost local textiles industry and the skills that
supported it. The artist will be requested to research and reference the now closed textile industry and organize a series of
community-based workshops with an emphasis on textiles or a relevant craft skill, creating a project which showcases how a basic
craft can be used to transfer skills and creativity within the community. The project should offer an opportunity for local people to
become community leaders and develop groups for skill-sharing events.
This project must take place within the Magnesian Limestone geological area of Derbyshire. http://www.creswellcrags.org.uk/limestone-journeys.aspx
