All we ask is that your work is courageous, displays a unique voice, a strong storytelling element and a cohesive narrative. The deadline for submission is 31st May 2013. The winning entries will be performed by a professional cast at Brighton’s Nightingale Theatre in...

Artist Natasha Davis reflects on her participation in the first Platforma Festival and reports on her current work. The Counterpoint exhibition at the Platforma Festival 2011, which featured my installation Unrooted and live performance Suspended, was significant for me because of the specific relationship between my performances and visual work, and the way my installations and films for galleries develop from my performances. Amongst other things, the exhibition led to spending a week at Shippon Gallery on Kurt Schwitters’ Merz Barn grounds in Cumbria at the invitation of Littoral, and a residency with Hosking Houses Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon, as I started working on my new performance Internal Terrains. Internal Terrains opens...

I am Trustee of an organisation that provides legal advice and representation to people affected by immigration legislation in Manchester  (mainly asylum seekers at the moment). We would like to put on a modest exhibition, hopefully in time for Refugee Week 2013, showing how  former clients have made successful lives for themselves in Manchester once they have won refugee status. I would not have difficulty in accessing suitable stories but have no experience in setting up an exhibition. I would welcome the opportunity to sit down  with someone who does have such experience and could help me  develop ideas about the kind of material we could use and how it could be displayed, and perhaps locate potential collaborators....

James Russell Cant looks back on his involvement in the Platforma Festival 2011 I was almost relieved in a sense when I heard that my series Divided to the Ocean was going to be included in the Counterpoint festival. I had been sent the call for submissions by a friend and I felt, as she did, that my series was trying to address that sense of the contrapuntal that seemed to be one of the central tenets of the festival. However, the festival was such a positive experience that in retrospect I am even more pleased than I imagined to have been invited to participate. I...
