Hofesh Shechter Company is recruiting percussion musicians to volunteer to join a 200-strong ensemble of Drummers for an exhilarating new production at the Barbican Theatre by Hofesh Shechter & Antony Gormley Survivor a unique collaboration between two artists at the top of their game.
This is a unique opportunity to volunteer to work closely with internationally celebrated artists and perform in one scene of this thrilling production, as part of an ensemble on the Barbican stage.

InterACT brings together 16-25-year-old asylum seekers and refugees with local young people. It supports them to address issues they care about in their communities by developing their own social action projects.
In 2011 the project is running in 5 cities in England and Wales. We are currently looking for partner organisations for the third year of the project. We are offering free training opportunities for organisations and young people, seed grants of up to £2000 for young people to develop their social action projects and the chance to be involved in an exciting and innovative project.

Voting is now OPEN for the Natwest Community Force Competition until the 23rd October 2011. Community Force supports hundreds of local charities and projects and voting is open to win an award of £6,000 each, with the winners decided by public vote.
Winning the competition will allow Sound It Out, in partnership with Brushstrokes in Sandwell, to deliver our Building Bridges project. Here, we will bring together people from diverse backgrounds through music and dance activities inspired from across the world to promote understanding and unity.

If you are aged 13-21 and live in the West Midlands, The Gentlemen's Press is running a writers' competition. The Gentlemen Press Competition will run from the 12th September to the 31st October 2011 and accepts short stories between 500 and 2,000 words. The winning entrants will have their stories published in an anthology which will be launched on The Book Barge, an independent bookshop on Birmingham canal.
