In its role as the Platforma East Midlands Coordinator, ArtReach it is staging a two day multi art-form festival in the heart of Leicester City Centre on Sunday 25th & Monday 26th August.
The Festival aims to build on the success ArtReach has had producing live events for the Platforma Network (Platforma Live), and using artists within the network, it will create a diverse and exciting programme that raises the profile of Refugee Artists in the UK and helps in the development of their careers.
Following the sell-out success of Bulbul 2012, Sandpit Arts announces Bulbul 2013 its second annual playwriting competition for new writers.
Sandpit Arts are looking for four 30-minute plays that engage with the Arab world. This year’s theme is: crying over the ruins.
The deadline for submission is 31st May 2013. The winning entries will be performed by a professional cast at Brighton’s Nightingale Theatre in autumn 2013. As with Bulbul 2012, two of these plays will be selected for further development for the Brighton Fringe 2014.

American based organisation Refugee Writers have launched a multi-lingual, short essay contest: New Places, New Homes! Submissions open to ALL LANGUAGES, ALL AGES, AND ALL PEOPLE!
They're looking for short narrative (non-fiction) essays about an experience that illustrates the challenges, tensions, opportunities, and personal growth that arise from moving across borders and cultures. But not just national borders. Moving across economic class, in or out of prison, or even just moving between neighborhoods within a city are all great topics.
